The answer so far
Start with the exact product and presentation: Ozempic and Wegovy injections, and semaglutide tablets, have different storage instructions. Do not transfer one product’s rule to another.
US Ozempic and Wegovy injections have presentation-specific refrigeration instructions; their tablets have different storage instructions. The 2026 US labels below are examples, not universal rules for semaglutide. Check the exact current label and country, especially before deciding what to do after a temperature excursion.123

How should Ozempic, Wegovy and semaglutide tablets be stored? Choose a step to explore this subject in more detail.
Ozempic: US multi-dose pen
The 2026 FDA label says that before first use the single-patient multi-dose pen is refrigerated at 2–8°C. After first use, it can be stored for 56 days either refrigerated at 2–8°C or at controlled room temperature of 15–30°C. Do not freeze or use if frozen. Keep the original carton until administration and follow the complete label for light protection and handling. This is not the instruction for every Ozempic presentation. For a general explanation, see why the route of use matters.1
Ozempic: US single-dose syringe
The same FDA label gives a different instruction for the single-dose prefilled syringe: refrigerate at 2–8°C; if needed, it may be kept at 8–30°C for up to 28 days. Do not freeze or use if frozen; protect from light and keep in the original carton. These are label conditions, not proof of stability outside them.1
Wegovy: US injection presentations
The 2026 FDA label distinguishes the single-dose pen or syringe from the single-patient FlexTouch pen. It says the single-dose presentation is refrigerated at 2–8°C and, if needed before cap removal, may be kept at 8–30°C for up to 28 days. FlexTouch has its own before- and after-first-use instructions; consult the exact label. The label says not to freeze Wegovy or use it if frozen. The same document’s medication guide says to discard a single-dose pen or syringe if it has been out of the refrigerator for 28 days or longer. The same US label says not to store Wegovy injection in a freezer or directly next to the refrigerator’s cooling element.2
Wegovy FlexTouch: a difference within the US label
The June 2026 US FDA document says to refrigerate the single-patient FlexTouch pen at 2–8°C before first use. After first use, both its prescribing section and medication guide describe up to 56 days refrigerated at 2–8°C or at 15–30°C. However, the FlexTouch instructions for use in the same PDF specify 20–25°C or 2–8°C for up to 56 days. Because these room-temperature ranges differ, consult the current instructions for your exact product and ask a pharmacist or the manufacturer how they apply; this comparison does not establish suitability after an excursion.2
Tablets and uncertain exposures
The cited US FDA labels say Wegovy tablets and Rybelsus/Ozempic tablets are stored at controlled room temperature in their original bottles to protect from moisture; read each label for its temperature range and permitted excursions. If the actual product was outside its labelled conditions, note the temperature and duration if known and ask a pharmacist or manufacturer. Do not assume a US label applies to another country, a compounded product or a different formulation. For a journey, see travelling with medicines that need cooling. For benefits, risks and evidence beyond storage, read the semaglutide profile.234
