What does evidence say about supplements or peptides for joints and recovery?
This page cannot diagnose an injury or recommend a rehabilitation plan for you.
Joint pain, muscle soreness, tendon injuries and recovery after surgery are different problems. Supplements and experimental peptides have different evidence and safety concerns. A proposed way to repair tissue does not establish faster healing or less pain in people.3

Recovery is not one outcome
Pain, movement, strength, return to activity and scan results can change differently. Check what a study measured and when. Start with how tendon, ligament and muscle injuries differ. For another question, see what an AOD-9604 cartilage study showed.3
Compare like with like
A supplement study, a rehabilitation trial and an animal tendon experiment do not answer the same question. Check who or what was studied, what was compared and how the product was given. Stroke rehabilitation is another question: explore the Semax research and care context.3
Red flags
Major trauma needs emergency assessment. After an injury, a deformed limb, numbness or tingling, or skin that is cold, blue or grey also needs emergency assessment. Severe or worsening pain or swelling, inability to bear weight, difficulty moving, or feeling feverish after an injury needs urgent assessment. For how injuries differ, see tendon, ligament and muscle injuries.21
Glucosamine and chondroitin
A biological claim is different from evidence about pain or daily function. Read glucosamine and chondroitin.
Collagen
A supplement’s composition and study outcome matter. Collagen. See what a small Achilles-tendon study and a separate gelatin experiment found.
BPC-157 evidence
Animal and laboratory findings are not established human treatment benefits. BPC-157 evidence. Follow the knee-pain study and the “11 out of 12” claim.
Peptide stacks
Combining peptides does not automatically make them safer or more effective. Read peptide stacks and safety.
BPC-157 and tendon healing
Animal tendon studies and reports of human knee pain answer different questions. Follow the BPC-157 tendon evidence.45
